Beaver Brainwaves – Super Staff Ideas

Yes, our traditions are awesome. But we don’t recycle through the usual routines summer after summer or even week after week. Instead, we are always brainstorming ideas that we think our campers will love. Our directors, specialists, and counselors are supported and inspired to envision and execute their exciting ideas. And as a result, everyone wins.

Just last week, for example, seasoned Woodshop Specialist Jon Butler introduced an idea to simultaneously motivate senior campers and benefit multiple facets of the camp. The campers who eagerly signed up for woodworking for the week began by surveying directors of general and specialty camp groups in search of ideas for products.

The results? After conceptualizing, designing, measuring, sawing, hammering, constructing and painting, campers like Ariella, Jared, Millie, Skylar, and Daniel will hand over to Lower Camp several colorful new bookshelves on which to store their beloved picture books. Additionally, Upper Camp will be the proud owners of a functionally cool new bench. Middle Camp will come away with numerous sturdy and stylish mailboxes. The lifeguard staff will receive both a useful and attractive lost-and-found shelf and an enormous and charming towel rack. And many of the CIT-led games will be revitalized for this year’s much-anticipated carnival. It’s just another example of life at Beaver Summer Camp that features all of our Program Goals at play: Friendship, Independence, Teamwork, Perceived Competence, Interest in Exploration, Responsibility, Problem-Solving Confidence, and Camp Connectedness!11698605_10153354094401210_5589255776471101443_n11011897_10153354094146210_5539248171036689740_n
