It’s Raining… But Beaver Camp Fun Goes On!

It’s raining!  Ugh…

What kind of fun could campers possibly have if it’s RAINING outside? (You may be asking yourself)…

Well, here at Beaver Camp there is still plenty of fun to be had by all campers when it rains!

“Since we can’t control Mother Nature, counselors find creative ways to keep activities going and campers having fun.” says Upper Camp Director Andrew. “We still do all of the things we do on a sunny day, just some are moved indoors if necessary.”  Many activities continue outside uninterrupted.  For example, campers still swim and participate in lessons in the rain (barring thunderstorms of course)!  Pools are comfortable and heated.  Camp Coordinator and former Lower Camp Counselor Laurel says “Kids LOVE to swim in the rain and getting double wet!”

While sports like archery and adventure challenge move into the gym and climbing wall respectively, others like outdoor games and pedal carts can be enjoyed in wet weather.  “When the logistics change, counselors and kids alike are flexible, immediately getting into a new fun activity.  We’ve done sports like dodgeball, basketball, and even Quiddich in the gym, started an impromptu concert, or organized a craft or board game challenge in response to changing weather.”

Lunch simply moves indoors to Bradley Hall, where campers eat picnic style along side counselors, often singing, playing music or games together.

A little rain?  No problem for Beaver campers!  Rain or shine, the fun must go on!
